Meenakshi Shunmugham

Meena’s career as a storyteller began at age nine when she penned (well, actually, penciled) her first novel for a school writing competition — a 144-page, double-spaced, spiral notebook tour de force entitled “Friends & Furies”.

Fast forward ten years and she had landed herself a strategic planning and account servicing gig at BBDO Worldwide – during the global financial crisis, no less! For the next few years, she worked with some of the best minds to create some of the world’s most compelling campaigns and content — for companies of all shapes, sizes and scale.

Fast forward another ten years and Meena is now working at PropertyGuru Group, who is a client-turned-employer. She leads the company’s brand, consumer marketing and communication functions across the region.

When she’s not busy playing a role in supporting people to find, finance or own a home, she immerses herself in learning about different cultures, places and, of course, their stories.

She’s passionate about telling stories of brands, organisations and individuals who are genuinely purpose-driven, and aren’t just woke-washing to be perceived as being more supportive of workplace diversity, more accepting of LGBTQs’ rights, more sustainable, or more whatever the purpose du jour may be.
